A Lot With A View

“Life is easy to chronicle, but bewildering to practice.”
E.M. Forster, A Room With A View

It’s easy to dream about how our house by the sea will look, but making it a reality is going to be a whole different story! Yesterday was the first real warm & sunny day since we arrived in Nova Scotia last weekend, sp we took a drive over to our hopefully-soon-to-be lot to do some exploring and planning.  Looking at the lot now, it’s just a bit overwhelming thinking about all the work that we have ahead of us! But we have to start somewhere :-)

This is the view from the lot to the southwest…

And views of the lot from the east and west…

Our house will be going here… sure, that’s easy to envision! ;-)

This is what we’ll see looking out through the kitchen windows :-)

It looks pretty isolated and desolate, but there are quite a few houses nearby. This is our next door neighbour’s house, and in the distance you can see the house at the very end of the peninsula. We need to make friends with these people so we can get invited over to their houses and see what they look like on the inside!

Doesn’t this entry look welcoming? I love the turquoise door :-)

The house at the very end of the peninsula is pretty awesome, but that’s a serious cliff and drop to the ocean right in front of it!

A reminder of the far less elaborate house that we’ll be building :-)

It’ll be fun to look back at these pictures after our house is built to see where we started. With any luck, we’ll be done and moved in and enjoying these views sometime in the summer or fall of 2016 :-)

    1. Anne, can you see why we've been willing to wait so long to make the sale official!? Although I think 8-1/2 months is long enough!

    1. Marsha, it's all a bit overwhelming, but exciting for sure! We've never had the chance to design a decorate a house from scratch :-)

    1. Thanks! The view is what sold us on this lot the minute we saw it :-) And also why we've been (im)patiently waiting over eight months so far to get all the legal stuff sorted out!
